HAWK’S HONOR
Legend of the Spirit
by Mary Quast
Being a hawk shifter on a Marine Corp Special Ops team is dangerous, but falling in love with his commanding officer could be deadly. Cpl. Jamie Hawke knew his mate from the first time they met but remained honor bound to not claim Captain Andrea “Andi.” He managed to keep his animal sane by protecting her until everything went FUBAR during their last mission.
During a year in recovery with his best friend and teammate, a wolf shifter, they work with a spiritual shaman to not only heal but also master the unique blood bond they share. With the ability to feel each other’s emotions and “talk” telepathically, they become superior warriors. The men are told by the shaman they must find their mates before the next tour. Hawke reluctantly agrees to apply to Madame Eve’s 1Night Stand elite dating service. When his date turns out to be none other than Capt. Nelson, he’s torn between love and duty.
Coming from a family of Marines, Andi Nelson knows how to handle the men and shifters under her command. However, none affect her like the Native American avian shifter, Cpl. Hawke, and seeing him wounded takes something from her. After another mission goes wrong, she is left feeling alone, self-conscious, and unsure of her future as a woman since wounds took away the ability to have children. Taking the advice of a friend, she applies to Madame Eve’s service hoping to find a man to help her heal and replace what she lost. When her date turns out to be none other than Hawke, she is faced with choices of her own.
Hawke realizes he might be the only one to heal Andi, but if the plan doesn’t succeed, they could both end up broken. Will his spirit animal’s demands win over honor? Is Andi willing to take the risk of the mating ritual? Or will they both choose a safer path and give up what could be?
