I don’t think this wish was meant for me… but that didn’t stop me from making one.
I need a new job. Due to budget cuts by the township, today is my last day working at the library. And I dread spending any time at the home I half own ever since my mom’s latest parasite of a boyfriend moved in.
As I’m shelving a paranormal romance novel, a white business card drops out of it. I pocket it for later, expecting it to be some kind of bookmark promoting the author.
At the end of the day, I reach into my pocket for the key to my bike lock when the card falls out. Instead of the author’s website or a QR code to scan, it tells me to make a wish. Why not? I would love to meet a hot dragon shifter like the one on the cover of the book the card came from. It wasn’t as if I was going to have any luck finding love in my small town.
That’s when everything changes.
