DELINQUENT DETTE by Lilo Quie
Frikka started life as a Jarl’s Dette son, a political hingepiece made to be traded for power. The one exception to a dette’s chastity was a ceremony known as the Running of the Drakes. When all the pieces fall into place, Frikka finds himself chasing one of the ruffian bastards of Tyr’s army, branded never to mate or hold station. When the Irish dragons take offense at Frikka’s clutch, the worst imaginable happens. Disowned by his father, Frikka leaves the old country and travels to the new world to raise his remaining sons with a ruffian drake, his rowdy brothers, and a massive vendetta to settle.
Sten is one of many sons born of a ceremony where dettes give their second heat to one of the raiders of Tyr’s army. The only time a Nielsen will ever be allowed to breed. When the dette that chooses him is one he’d lusted after since childhood, he conceives a clutch and sets the path to liberate the Nielsens, forge his way to the new world, and pray that his Dette finally finds peace.
